Top Turkish Universities in World Rankings: An Impressive Achievement

According to the results of the 2025 World University Rankings, five universities in Turkey secured spots in the TOP 500 best universities in the world. Compiled by the higher education rating agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), these rankings assessed 5,663 of the world’s leading universities. And only 1,503 made the final list. The top Turkish universities in world rankings have made notable strides in various academic and employer recognition metrics.

Middle East Technical University

Middle East Technical University (METU) ranks first among Turkish universities. It has secured the 285th position globally. METU’s remarkable performance over the past three years has seen its Employer Recognition ranking soar by 153 positions to 101st in the world. And its Academic Recognition rise by 47 positions to 286th. This consistent improvement highlights METU’s commitment to excellence in higher education.

Istanbul Technical University

Istanbul Technical University (ITU) holds the 326th position in the global rankings. Known for its strong engineering and technical programs, ITU continues to uphold its reputation as a leading institution in Turkey and beyond.

Koç University

Koç University ranks 401st globally. With a focus on research and liberal arts education, Koç University has built a strong academic presence that earns it a spot among the top Turkish universities in world rankings.

Bogazici University

Bogazici University, situated in the vibrant city of Istanbul, ranks 418th globally. This institution is renowned for its robust academic programs and cultural diversity, contributing significantly to its high ranking.

Bilkent University

Highlights from the Global Top Three

In addition to celebrating the success of the top Turkish universities, it’s notable that the top three universities globally, according to the QS rankings, are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Imperial College London, and the University of Oxford.
