In January 2023, 97 thousand 708 properties were sold in Turkey
When compared to the same month the year before, the number of properties sold in Turkey climbed by 10.6% in January, reaching 97,708. 17.8% of all properties sold in Turkey came from the 17,415 real estate sales in Istanbul. Both Ankara and Antalya saw total home sales of 8,808 and 5,572, respectively, making them the second and third most active real estate markets in Turkey, behind only Istanbul. Ankara accounted for 9% of total sales, while Antalya contributed 5% of them.
Mortgaged home sales increased to 16,203
Mortgaged home sales in Turkey fell by 10.9% in January compared to the same month the year before. Reaching 16 thousand 203. 16.6% of all homes sold were mortgage-related. Of the mortgaged homes sold in January, 4,260 were first-time sales.
Non-mortgage (Other) home sales were 81 thousand 505
Non-mortgaged homes sold in Turkey climbed by 16.2% in January compared to the same month the year before, reaching 81 thousand 505. 83.4% of all homes sold were other property sales.
There were 27,532 instances of New Home Sales.
First-time home sales in Turkey climbed by 1.2% in January compared to the same month the year before, to 27 thousand 532. 28.2% of all homes sold were first-time sales.
There were 70 thousand 176 resale homes sold.
When compared to the same month last year, the sale of resale homes in Turkey climbed by 14.8% in January, reaching 70 thousand 176. 71.8% of all homes sold were resales.
There were 4 thousand 161 properties sold to foreign buyers in January
Compared to the same month last year, the number of homes sold to foreigners fell by 0.6% in January, to 4,161. 4.3% of all home sales in January were to overseas buyers. First place went to Antalya with 1,592 international sales. Istanbul, with 1, 380 home sales, and Mersin, with 331 home sales to foreigners, were Antalya’s rivals.
House sales were mostly made to Russian citizens according to nationalities
In January, Russian citizens bought one thousand 557 houses from Turkey. Following Russian citizens were Iranians with 526 house sales, Iraqis with 229 and Ukrainian citizens with 157.
